German
-
Lesson 3
-
BASIC SENTENCE STRUCTURE
-
1st part of speech:
Almost anything can come first in a sentence, for example: Time, Day, Noun, etc.
Except for Verbs.

2nd part of speech:
ONLY Verbs! Repeat after me! "Verbs are destined to come in 2nd." LOL. But I am serious. "Verbs are destined to come in 2nd."

Others:
The words behind can come in any order, depending on the Cases, the tenses, the Grammar, etc. used.

Simple examples:
  • Ich heiße [name]. ---------- My name is [name]. (Literal: I am called [name].)
  • Ich komme aus Singapur. ---------- I am from Singapore. (Literal: I come from Singapore.)
  • Ich wohne in Boon Lay. ---------- I live in Boon Lay.
  • Ich bin ein idiotisches Mädchen. ---------- I am an idiotic girl.
  • Jeden Tag sagt ich, "Ich liebe meine Tochter." ---------- Every day, I say, "I love my daughter." (Literal: Every day says I, "I love my daughter.")

In the next lesson, you will be taught how to conjugate verbs for all different personas. Look forward to it. It is easy and definitely fun!

Repeat after me!

"Deutschland ist ein sehr schönes Land."
